Brief


Queenstown, the #1 tourism destination in New Zealand, is also the home of the New Zealand Open International Golf Tournament. Although a young tournament, the reputation amongst professionals and amateurs players has made the New Zealand Open a rising star in the global circuit of golf experiences. We were recruited to brand the Champion's lounge and pop-up restaurant known as The Shed. Within the brief were wide openings and opportunities for complete creative and design direction within the space and throughout the weekend's event lineup.

Discovery


Our primary goals were to create an environment where the players could play all day and still want to party at night. Unlike other tournaments, New Zealand Open has a small ego. The leaders of the tournament want players, amateurs and fans to mingle and have a collective experience. From the brand identity to the custom build; every element had to welcome the integrated experience and keep the attributes of New Zealand's premium golf experience.

Solution


To create a universally appealing interior and keep the personality of Queenstown inside the working space; we created the experiential flow, custom tables and seating from marine-grade plywood. The elements were shaped, cut, sanded and digitally printed to bring the entire branded experience together. Our focus on lighting was driven by a primal minimalism aesthetic, to keep the mood romantic and endearing. The client and customer experience throughout the event was exceptional. Beyond our acute listening and execution; we brought the art direction of modesty to life; in order for bragging rights to be rightfully handed to the next greatest golf tournament of the world.
